2017 Annual Spring Show - Charter Member Kickoff - "Spring Renaissance" June 10-23, 2017
Curators: Domenica Brockman and Marina Delaney Founders, CayAC
The first Annual Cayuga Arts Collective Spring Show at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts was a huge success with nearly 350 visitors. We invited our member-artists to contribute works pertaining to the theme of rebirth and renewal. The opening took place on June 10th. As the charter member kickoff show, everyone was guaranteed at least one spot. Over thirty members participated and seventy-eight pieces were on display. Materials ranged from oil on canvas and works on paper to mosaic, glass, and upholstered furnishings. For the duration of the exhibit, we ran a “People’s Choice Award.” Our first prize of $100 was awarded to Helen Bishop Santelli for her painting "Along the Erie Canal". First runner up, Denise Milito was recognized for her mosaic birdbath; second runner up, Aidan-Kaplan Wright for his abstract painting, "Thank You!".
2018 "Some Body" at Petrune - May 4-June 1, 2018
Organizers/Contributers: Domenica Brockman, Marina Delaney & Ben Marlan
During the month of May we are having a special exhibit entitled "Some Body" at the Petrune gallery space in downtown Ithaca. The theme of the show is the human figure in varied forms: distilled, cropped, fractured, or in some way reconsidered. This group show was organized through CayAC and Ithaca Drawing Group. You may visit the Petrune gallery at 126 The Commons, Ithaca during regular store hours. If you missed the opening come to the closing party next Gallery Night, Friday, June 1st 5:30-8pm.
2018 - ART in FLUX - June 9-12, 2018
Curators: Domenica Brockman and Marina Delaney
The second Annual Cayuga Arts Collective Spring Show at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts ran June 9-22, 2018. For this exhibit we invited our artist-members to consider the theme of dynamic expression: movement, rhythm, pattern, gesture and all things action-related. As a member show, everyone in the Collective is guaranteed at least one spot and this year we are pleased to announced that fifty artists chose to participate.Birds in flight; women dancing; oceanic waves; “Action” painting: these were just some of the inspirations for "Art in Flux". There were also pieces that actually moved - mobiles, toys, and — on opening night — “wallpaper” style projections of archived and historic videos documenting the changes in art and film through the years.
Once again, for the duration of the show, we sponsored a “People’s Choice Award" with prizes given to the artists whose works of art receive the most votes. Ian Connerty won first prize for his painting Indigo #2. Second prize was awarded to Anna Pausch for her woodcut Tamarack Lean-to. Third place was awarded to Denise Kooperman for her kinetic sculpture Whirling Dervish. Congratulations to our 2018 winners! This exhibit was reviewed in the Ithaca Times by Arthur Whitman.
2019 - blue. June 8-July 12
Curators: Domenica Brockman and Marina Delaney
The third Annual Cayuga Arts Collective Spring Show at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts ran from June 8-July 12, 2019. Every year we invite established and emerging artists to take part in celebrating the creative spirit that fills our community. Inspired by Picasso's Blue Period, last year the theme was "blue” in its broadest sense: as a color, as a feeling, as a metaphor, and as an associative term such as “Rhythm & Blues” or “Little Boy Blue”. Over forty member-artists participated in the exhibit. Winners of our People’s Choice Award were as follows: first prize went to Anna Pausch for Three Wise Women; runners-up were Aidan Kaplan-Wright for Summer Scotland Train Night and Julie Rosa for In Harmony.
2020 - Collective Consciousness
Curators: Domenica Brockman and Marina Delaney
The Arts have always served as a way to unite people by celebrating in our shared humanity. In these challenging times, the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts stands firm in its commitment to enrich life through diverse forms of creative expression and play a meaningful role in bringing our community together and promoting racial harmony.
This year, members of the Cayuga Arts Collective donated their annual dues to sponsor young student artists at the Red Hook Neighborhood School in Brooklyn, New York by providing them with packages of art supplies.
Our spring art show, “Collective Consciousness” was TCFA’s first-ever online exhibit. Members of the Cayuga Arts Collective were invited to submit work made in the past year. Visit Tburgconservatory.org to view the virtual exhibit and youtube promo video. This year's People's Choice winners were "Vessel" by Laura Johnson and Aidan Kaplan-Wright's First Comes Red, Orange Comes Next.
2021 - POP!
Curators: Domenica Brockman and Marina Delaney
The fith annual Cayuga Arts Collective Spring Show at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts took place June 5 - August 7, 2021. This year we embraced the Pop art movement of the 1960’s -- seeking work that paid tribute to Pop art and it's enduring influence. The exhibit was open to all CayAC members and every member was guaranteed at least one spot. Thirty-seven of our members participated in the show in a bold array of drawings, paintings, assemblage, ceramics, photography, digital art, costume, video, installation and interactive art.
As is our tradition, we ran a “People’s Choice Award” for the duration of the show. This year the winners are:
First Prize: Invasion of the Rats by Joy Adams; Second Prize: Couch etc. by Robin Hjortshøj; Third Prize: Zoo'em by Don Ellis
2022 - BIG & small
The sixth annual Cayuga Arts Collective Spring Show at the Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts took place June 10-July 29, 2022. This year we are focused on aspects of scale, namely the very large and the very small. This year's winner of the People's Choice Award was Aidan Kaplan-Wright for his oil on canvas entitled, Ode to Orange, Green, Black and White. We also acknowledged Mark Oros for entering the smallest work in the show and Alice Gant for entering the largest piece.
